Adolf Gunter Aszmies

1940 - 2024

Adolf Gunter Aszmies passed away in palliative care at the Freeport Hospital, Kitchener, Ontario on Wednesday December18th, 2024 in his 84th year.

He was the husband of Gloria (Lutz) Aszmies for over 51 years. Cherished Dad of Robert (Sandra), and Jamie (Erin). Dear Opa of Nathaniel, Benjamin, Hannah, Fynn (Snook), Danielle and Gavin.

He will be sadly missed by sisters Brigitte and Renate and over 30 Aszmies' nieces and nephews in Canada and Germany. Survived by three brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law. and also by many Lutz nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents, Wilhelm and Lina (Skirbst) Aszmies, sisters Edith, Gerda, Monika, and Heidi, brothers, Horst, Manfred, and Helmut, and niece Gudrun (Lucy) Roux. .

Adolf came to Canada in1958 at 18 years of age and worked odd jobs until spending a number of years in the tobacco fields. He opted out of Ford assembly to work in construction, where he found his wood-working talent, framing houses and assembling many other wood craft projects.

Cremation has taken place and time of inurnment will take place in Hagey Mennonite Cemetery at a later date.
