It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alvan Craig Clemens. A caring father, devoted brother, a beloved son, and cherished friend, he peacefully left us on February 12, 2024, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love, kindness, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Born on June 11, 1956 to the late Marjorie (nee: Leis) and Robert Clemens, and later the loving step-son of the late Mary Clemens, Alvan’s life was a tapestry woven with threads of generosity and steadfast commitment to his family and friends. A beacon of wisdom and quick-witted jokes, his presence was a source of enrichment for all those fortunate enough to be touched by his warmth.
With a passion for his family and a love for food, Alvan found his calling in the culinary world, first as a chef, then as a food service representative in and around Waterloo and Wellington counties, before eventually taking his experience over to a small local business. Throughout his career he excelled in forging partnerships with local restaurants, making their success a shared success. Alvan’s commitment to his clients and unwavering dedication were evident in his approach to every challenge inspiring those who worked alongside him.
Alvan’s true brilliance emerged in his role as a father, where he became an unwavering source of unconditional love, guidance, and support. Throughout the years he skillfully imparted values of integrity, compassion, and resilience into the fabric of his children’s lives. His laughter, a comforting melody, resonated through the halls of our homes, creating an atmosphere of joy and warmth. Alvan’s wisdom echoes in our hearts and will always provide a guiding light for us who are blessed to have called him a father.
Alvan is survived by his father Robert Clemens; children Craig (Natalie Doak) Clemens, Zoe (Skyler) Cleeves; grandson Henry Clemens; his twin brother Allan (Rose) Clemens, sister Deborah (Jerry) Martin, siblings Valerie (Ian) Stone, Laurie (John) Bowman, niece Hayden Bowman; and nephews Shawn Martin and Danny Bowman. Fondly remembered by the Leis family aunts, uncles, and cousins.
