Devan James Knowles

November 6, 1994 – September 18, 2023

It is with extremely heavy hearts we formally announce the sudden passing of Devan James Knowles of Cambridge, Ontario, on September 18, 2023, at the age of 28.

Devan was suddenly struck with an illness which was inevitably diagnosed as Acute Leukemia. Though his battle was relatively short, Devan fought with amazing ferocity, like the heroic man he was, and will forever be. His loving family remained by his side throughout.

Devan is survived by his loving mother Kristina Kimpel, father James Knowles, and two siblings: eldest sister, Aleisha Knowles and older brother, Zack Knowles.  Also survived by a large loving family, and many, many friends. As well as his loving girlfriend, Erica Humphreys.  And of course, by his loving dog, Jessie, and cats, Bailey and Sophie.

Devan was known for his gentle giant persona, exceptionally good soul, and great sense of humor. Through this incredibly horrific journey many have spoken of his kindness, his goodwill towards all. His influence, his effect on others’ lives and the good that came with knowing Devan. Devan was kind to all.

Devan was born in Preston, Ontario, and moved to Hespeler as a young boy. He treasured every moment amongst his family, friends and his animals.  Devan loved each family holiday, spending time with his loved ones, fishing and travelling. He was so incredibly generous, thoughtful and loving. He was a welder by trade who proudly spoke of the complex welding he had to do.  He loved playing guitar, heavy metal music, PlayStation and the great outdoors, particularly along the water.

Devan recently lost his loving Grandfather, Doug Kimpel in May. We feel his grandfather was there to receive him and guide him through the transition to the afterlife. Many, many relatives and loved ones would have been there for him.

The incredible support our family has received is a true testament to our kind and loving soul, Devan.

The family extends gratitude to Dr. Light, the Cambridge Memorial Hospital and London University Hospital for trying so incredibly hard to save him. We are eternally grateful to every member of these teams.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday October 20, 2023, 4-8pm., at The Scout House, 16 Kribs St., Hespeler, Cambridge. Please feel free to join us.

Devan will be forever missed, forever loved, our hearts will forever hold him. He will always be spoken of fondly and remembered. Through our tears, we will always smile as we know just how lucky we were to have him, if even just for a short time. We were very fortunate to have had Devan in our lives.

It is not goodbye, it’s until we meet again.

Messages and condolences may be left for the family at www.tricitycremations.com. Please visit Devan's obituary notice on Facebook.
