John Richard Douglas Riddell
1941 – 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of John Richard Douglas Riddell, who left this world surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Montreal, John embraced life with a joie de vivre that defined him. In 1982, he moved his family to Oakville, where he continued to build a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to those he cherished most.
He leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend, Beverley, his cherished daughters Heidi (Jeff) and Cindy (Patrick), and his adored grandchildren Reese, Kenedy, and Blake, who brought him endless joy and pride.
John lived with passion, enthusiasm, and a deep love for family and adventure. He was an avid sports fan, an enthusiastic skier, and, above all, a devoted family man. Whether hitting the slopes, cheering on his favorite teams, or simply enjoying time with loved ones, he brought warmth and energy to every moment.
His love for animals was unwavering—there was never a time in his life when he didn’t have a loyal dog by his side. The companionship of his beloved pets brought him comfort, joy, and unconditional love throughout his life.
John faced COPD with strength and courage. In his memory, donations to The Lung Health Foundation (formerly the Ontario Lung Association) can be made at www.lunghealth.ca or by calling 1-888-344-5864 to support lung disease research and advocacy.
Cremation has taken place. As per John’s wishes, there will be no formal memorial service or celebration. Messages and condolences may be left at www.tricitycremations.com. Please visit John’s obituary notice on Facebook.
His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply cherished and will never be forgotten.
