Joseph “Joe” Burke

1950 - 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Burke peacefully after a struggle with dementia. He was surrounded by his partner Doris Chobot ( Heer) of 24 years and her sister, Colleen Heer. He was 73.

Brother of Pamela Scherer ( Brian) and Hilary Burke. Predeceased by parents Jane and David Burke and by two brothers.

Remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

Joseph was in 1950 in Glace Bay, Cape Breton Nova Scotia and moved to Toronto at a young age and then to Kitchener.  He worked as a letter carrier for Canada Post for over 32 years before retiring.

A special thank you to Colleen Heer and Robert Tansley for all their help during this trying period.  Thank you to the palliative care team at Freeport Hospital until his final breath.

Cremation will take place.   As per Joe’s wishes there will be no visitation or celebration of life.
