Josephine Elizabeth Kane

Josephine Elizabeth Kane (nee Smith) passed away peacefully on February 29th 2024 surrounded by her family. Born June 22nd 1934 in Peterborough, England she was 89 years old.

Josephine, being the matriarch of her family was strong willed and never wavered in the face of adversity. “Mom”, “Nana”, or “Josie” no matter what you referred to her as, she was there for you and lived for her family. Josephine shared the oldest sibling title with her late twin sister Doreen. She was predeceased by her sister Irene and is survived by her brother Michael. Josephine and her beloved husband Barry recently celebrated 61 years of marriage together. They moved from England to Canada to raise, at the time their two children. They had four sons, Andrew (Darlene), Michael (Heather), Steven (Caroline), and Anthony (Antonela), ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. Josephine was grandmother of Elann, Paige, Brittany (Dominic), Zane, Lauren, Tyler, Hunter, Austin, Madison, Brooklyn. She was great grandmother of Madden Josephine Sims who was graciously named after her.

Josephine will never be forgotten through her larger than life presence, to be celebrated in mid spring in an ash scattering ceremony in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
