Mary Jane Easton (nee Downer)

July 21, 1944 - May 20, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Jane Easton-Downer, who departed this world peacefully at the age of 79.

Mary was a beloved mother, grandmother, and community member who touched many lives in Cambridge, Ontario. She is predeceased by her loving parents Muriel Mary Downer and Alfred John Downer who she always remembered fondly. Despite being diagnosed with Alzheimer's/dementia, Mary faced her illness with incredible bravery and resilience. Her strength and courage throughout her battle were an inspiration to all who knew her.

She leaves behind to mourn her 5 children, Jeff, Dave, Tracey, Rob, Wendi. Along with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, family and friends.

Mary was a dedicated employment specialist who tirelessly worked to help others find their path in the workforce. Her commitment to her community was evident in her every action, and she was known for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering support. An avid animal lover, Mary adored her cat Rocky, dog Lola, and Paco. Her home was always filled with the warmth and love of her furry friends, who brought her great comfort and joy. Mary had a passion for playing darts, and she could often be found enjoying the game with friends and family. Her competitive spirit and love for the game brought many smiles and happy memories to those around her. 

Mary Jane Easton-Downer will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the Cambridge community. Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to any humane society / Alzheimer's society of choice, causes that were close to Mary's heart. 

May she rest in peace and continue to watch over us with her gentle spirit.
