Myrtle Jane Caldwell (nee Parsons)
Myrtle Jane Caldwell (nee Parsons) passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on November 4, 2024.
Born January 21, 1934 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, the youngest daughter of George and Maud Parsons. Predeceased by her parents and brothers Melvin, Chester and Roy and granddaughter Laurie. Survived by sister Ada.
Myrtle is also survived by her loving husband, Fred, whom she married on July 3, 1954. During their seventy happy years of marriage they celebrated the birth of their three children, Darlene, Douglas (Louise), and Valerie and enjoyed many special adventures traveling across Canada, the United States and overseas, visiting several different countries including Israel in their later years.
Loving grandmother to Scott, Erin, Chad (Sabrina), David, Michael, Bryan, Stephanie and great grandmother to Emma, Sofia, Bentley, Jackson, Luke, Eva and Helana.
Myrtle moved with her family from Glace Bay, Nova Scotia to Cambridge (Galt), Ontario in 1948. She attended Galt’s Revival Centre Church (Calvary Pentecostal Assembly) where she sang in a ladies trio and in the choir, played the saxophone and accordion in the church orchestra and taught Sunday School, volunteered in the nursery, and for many years knitted bonnets for babies born to families in the church. She was employed by Scroggins Shoe Factory and later by Snyder’s Potato Chips (Frito-Lay).
Myrtle will be fondly remembered by her family and lifelong friends from her church and community. As per Myrtle’s wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of life is planned for Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Calvary Pentecostal Assembly, 127 Hespeler Road, Cambridge, Ontario with visitation at 10:00 am followed by the Celebration of Life service at 11:00 am.
