Patrick James Wray

With heavy hearts we say goodbye to our friend Patrick James Wray.  Pat passed away peacefully after an 11 year battle with cancer March 11 2025.

Though his fight was long, his indomitable spirit, humour and stubborn determination remained a constant, a testament to the man he was.

Pat was a 25 year city of Kitchener employee and a valued member of the Doon & Rockway grounds keeping teams. Pat loved his work and treated the courses with meticulous care.

Known affectionately as “The Mayor” of Sidelines Bar and Rabid Fox Bar—titles bestowed upon him by both establishments, Pat was a loyal patron. These places were more than watering holes; they were second homes where his friendships flourished, and where his presence will be deeply missed. Pat found happiness in the company of his friends and the passions that shaped his days. Whether he was playing a round of golf, cheering on his favorite hockey team, or reminiscing with his Kitchener Braves and Fergus Thistles lacrosse buddies, Pat’s gruff kindness touched us all.

We would like to thank the paramedics and the nursing team on the 6th floor at Grand River Hospital for their wonderful caring help.

At Pat’s request no funeral or formal celebration of life is planned. (because that’s just how he was)

Rest easy, Pat You were one of a kind, and we’ll raise a glass in your honor, it has been our honor.

Donations, to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Messages and condolences may be left for the family at www.tricitycremations.com or 519.772.1237. Please visit Pat’s obituary notice on Facebook.
