Ann Ashberry

Ann passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, surrounded by family on March 1, 2023. Ann will be deeply missed by her husband, Dave Ashberry; they were the love of each other’s lives and each other’s best friend. They were fortunate to enjoy many fulfilling and happy years together, travelling the world, sightseeing, and hiking as well as spending winters in their home in Barbados, making friends along the way.

Ann was an energetic, hardworking, intelligent woman. She was proud of her “down east” roots, the Bay of Fundy being one of her favourite places and she spent many happy summers with family and friends in PEI. She was a Counselling Psychologist at the University of New Brunswick and a Professor at Conestoga College, and she showed dedication to her students, helping them to discover successful career paths. Lifelong friendships were established with colleagues, throughout her rewarding and successful career. In “retirement” Ann continued to work alongside Dave teaching online courses for both Conestoga College and Northern College.

Ann was a dedicated road runner and twice won the half-marathon race for her age group at both the Toronto and Niagara Falls marathons among others. She was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed preparing delicious and healthy meals for Dave and her guests.

Ann volunteered for more than 30 years as an aerobics instructor and on the reception desk of the YMCA as well as volunteering with the KW Symphony. She was an avid reader that kept herself abreast of current events and was an engaging conversationalist. Her skills as a gardener earned her the Kitchener in Bloom award as well as the compliments of many neighbours and friends.

Ann was a caring daughter and is survived by her sister and two brothers as well as by her many admiring nieces and nephews, always taking the time to show interest in their lives and accomplishments. Family and friends will cherish happy times, enjoying life over a glass of wine. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on May 21st, her birthday, from 3:30 until 7 PM at ABE ERB located in the Tannery Building at Victoria and Charles. Remarks at 4:30.

Donations in her memory, to a charity of your choice, will be appreciated.

Messages and condolences may be left for family at www.tricitycremations.com or 519.772. 1237. Please visit Ann's obituary notice on Facebook.
