James Joseph Heaney

James (Jim) Heaney passed away peacefully with his devoted wife, Dorothy, by his side. Jim was in the care of Innisfree House Hospice at the time of death on Monday February 27th, 2023 at the age of 72 years.

Jim was born in Mount Forest, Ontario but spent most of his childhood days in Ayton, Ontario before moving to Hanover for his teenage years. Jim took a keen interest in technology and advanced his skills in computer science by attending college in Toronto. This led to a fruitful career in insurance at Manulife. Jim retired at Manulife and became a member of their Quarter Century Club. In his free time, Jim enjoyed fishing, wood working, and spend time outdoors.

Jim was the beloved husband and best friend of Dorothy (nee Churchill) whom they shared a lasting and loving marriage for 47 years. Jim will be remembered and cherished by his two children, Brian and Nicole (Joe Grant) Heaney.

Jim will be dearly remembered by his three sisters, Joan Disney, Shirley Fiddler, and Marion Moore and numerous other family members. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Anna Heaney. He will be sadly missed by many other friends, relatives, co-workers and neighbours.

At Jim's request, a cremation has taken place and an open house Celebration of Life will be held for family and close friends at the Williamsburg Dedication Centre on Saturday, April 8 from 12pm - 4pm located at 1541-B Fischer-Hallman Rd, Kitchener, ON N2R 1P6.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Innisfree Hospice as expressions of sympathy.
