Barbara Ann Lewis

Barbara Ann Lewis (nee Hurt) passed away peacefully in her sleep, November 13, 2023 at 65 years of age.

Loving wife of Charles W. Dihlman with whom she shared a life with for over 19 years. She is also the cherished mother of Mary L. Lewis of Mississauga, Ontario and sister of Bob Hurt, Arizona; Sharon Wolshire, Arizona; and James (Jim) Hurt, Milton, Ontario.  She will also be fondly remembered by Charles’ children; Audra Antrum, Angela Deslauriers, Crystal Wilson, and David Wilson and by 5 grandchildren.

Barbara came from a military family and as such was born in Germany while her parents were stationed there and returned to the Michigan area of the United States shortly thereafter. Eventually, her family immigrated to Streetsville, Ontario where she attended Streetsville Secondary School. She went on to a successful career in tax accounting, working for such firms as H&R Block and Green & Company. She was an avid reader and enjoyed such hobbies as puzzles, crocheting, fishing and the morning newspaper crossword. She was also an animal lover, providing a home to many local shelter animals throughout her life.

She is predeceased by her parents, Robert (Bob) and Joan Hurt (nee Strohman).

Cremation has taken place and a small Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.

Donations may be made to the Kitchener Humane Society as expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers and would be appreciated by the family.
