Donette Lea Kolpean

Donette Lea Kolpean, aged 59 years of Cambridge, Ontario, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 19th, 2023 at Innisfree House in Kitchener, Ontario.

Donette faced the unimaginable hardship of cancer for many years with bravery and grace.

Donette will be dearly missed by her husband Allan Kolpean, daughter Nicole (Patrick) Holman, son Shane (Carly) Kolpean, grandchildren Dexter and Claire Holman, and Colton and Cayge Kolpean, mother Denise Mercer, sister Cheryl (Allen) McEwan, brothers Jim (Jackie) Mercer, and Jason Mercer, mother-in-law Louise Kolpean, brothers and sisters in-law Ron (Marie) Kolpean, Ken (Julie) Kolpean, Yvonne Kolpean, Wayne (Nancy) Kolpean, Linda (Barry) Craig, and Darlene (Dean) Pike, and many nieces and nephews.

Donette was predeceased by her father James Mercer, father-in-law Ronald Kolpean, and granddaughter Kinley Rose Kolpean.

Donette was born on December 12, 1963 in Regina, Saskatchewan, the 2nd of four siblings who eventually moved to Cambridge in 1975, where she graduated from Glenview Park Secondary School.

In 1984 Donette married the love of her life, Al, and they settled in Preston where they raised their beautiful loving family.

Donette worked a variety of jobs before finding the perfect fit as a Personal Support Worker at Fairview Mennonite Home in Preston.

Undoubtably, Donette’s greatest accomplishment and love was her family, who brought her great pride. Her road trips and vacations with Al are cherished memories. The last few years Donette particularly enjoyed her young grandchildren, as well as spending time with her Mom and daughter on regular coffee dates.

Donette will be remembered for her kindness by all who were lucky enough to know her.

The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Juravinski Cancer Centre in Hamilton, the Cambridge Memorial Hospital, and the very special staff at Innisfree House.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial gathering celebrating Donette’s life will take place at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers, donations in Donette’s name can be made to Innisfree House.
