Barbara Ann Matthews (nee Mallette)

After a lengthy illness, Barb went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 26th, 2023, at Hilltop Manor in Cambridge.

Born on November 13th, 1938, in Cornwall, Ontario, and later residing in Cambridge (Preston).

​Lovingly remembered by her dear husband Donald, whom she married in 1965.  She will be sadly missed by her children, Rowland and Lori Hickman (Gerry), and grandchildren Ashton and Madelyn.  Also missed by many nieces and nephews, numerous friends, and her beloved pet companion, Molly.

Predeceased by her parents Ligouri Alfred Mallette (1978), Evelyn Mary Brunette (1973), and beloved sister to Gordon (1984), Shirley (2005), Raymond (2013), and Marie (2022). 

Barb was employed at Hostess (now Frito-Lay) for 38 years before retiring in 2003.  She then worked at Sam’s Club, giving out samples.

In her spare time, Barb loved making new jewelry out of old jewelry, and knitting slippers to give away.  She made sure the candy dish was always full for when company came, and loved baking so she could give it away to her neighbours.

Barb loved life and her family was her pride and joy. She fought so hard for so long until her last breath.  We all find comfort knowing that she is no longer suffering.

Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
