Barbara Roadhouse
Barbara Elizabeth Roadhouse, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Freeport Hospital, surrounded by her loving family at 84 years young. While her family deeply mourns her loss, they also celebrate the rich life and enduring love she leaves behind. They find solace knowing she is reunited with her one true love, Memphis.
Born in Cambridge, Ontario in the spring of 1940 to Elizabeth and Lester Taggart. Barb was raised alongside her sister and close confidante, Carole Shaw (John), and brother, Jim Taggart. Known for her vibrant personality and ability to enliven any gathering, Barb lived life to its fullest and inspired others to do the same. She cherished her family, friends, independence, card nights and games of Aggravation played around the dining room table.
Barb was a fantastic cook, particularly her baking skills. She took great pleasure in feeding both people’s bodies and souls with her chocolate balls. Professionally, she dedicated most of her adult life to working as a medical transcriptionist at various hospitals, including those in Guelph, Kitchener-Waterloo, and Cambridge.
She was a loving mother to her children: Shauna (Terry), Timothy (Maureen), and Lesley (Dave), as well as numerous individuals she embraced as family over the years. Barb was the cherished Nana of Brent, Michelle, Megan, Tyler, Taylor, Mike, Blair, and Justin, and a devoted Gigi to Grace, Garet, Jameson, Sky, Nash, and Maxwell.
In accordance with Barb's wishes, cremation will take place, and no visitation or memorial service will be held. Family and friends were fortunate to celebrate Barb's life with her in September 2024, expressing their gratitude and acknowledging the profound impact she had on their lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Special Olympics, an organization close to Barb's heart.
