Barry James Waugh

Barry James Waugh was the “Life of the Party” to all that knew him.

Surrounded by his family on Sunday February 18th, 2024, he passed away from his short battle with cancer.

Born December 18th, 1961, In Woodstock, Ontario to Louise and Fredrick Waugh.

Barry was a beacon of love, hope, positivity & light. His presence alone could lift anyone’s mood. He was known for his consistent shenanigans and mischievous behaviour. From wearing his grand daughter’s helmet for a body surf across the muddy campsite with his pants falling down. Riding through campfires on a trike, to picking himself out of said campfires. His joy of poking every last nerve, serving up a wet willy or request to pull his finger. All for a good laugh. He claimed to have moves like Jagger, which he demonstrated often. Barry Had a big love for camping. Enjoying countless nights at the fire surrounded by friends and family. Putting on a rockin’ show with AC/DC and a canoe paddle. A newfound love of his smoker, always wanting to create something for anyone that stopped by. He thoroughly enjoyed being in the constant presence of friends and family, so much so that we all would get our turn for nightly facetime conversations and morning text messages over “coffee poops” and funny memes.

Barry put in 35 Years at KRUG Furniture Working his way up the ladder from a Machine operator, repair, packing, Lead Hand to Team Leader. Known as a dedicated, energetic and conscientious employee with and easy-going attitude and great sense of humor, before enjoying a short retirement. In true Barry fashion, he made a million friends along the way. Being considered as “one of the good ones”, “the calm in a stressful workday”, and a “Amazing human with & fun-loving attitude on life”.  Before Krug, Barry put a few years working at a weld shop in Woodstock and Umpired Lob Ball in his teen years.

Barry Absolutely LOVED his family. He leaves behind his 3 daughters Melissa Bloxsidge (Kevin), Samantha Sager (Jordan), & Jamie Parkin (Ebonee) as well as his 2 bonus sons Ryan Bertin (Chelsea) & Branden Bertin. Barry was also extremely proud of his 12 grandchildren. Andrew, Jacob, Emma, Mia, Charleigh, Sadie, Lennoyx, Layker & Luxton, Bentley, Brooklynn & Renee. Barry will be missed by his Siblings Darlane, Betty (Jeff), Terri (Robin), Fred (Carol), Dara (Bob), and all his nieces and nephews in which he loved dearly. Forever remembered as “The Favorite Uncle”.

Barry also leaves behind his great love of 18 years, Valarie Bertin. His Sweetheart. The 2 have shared many laughs, tears and made some incredible memories. There was never a dull moment. Barry loved Val “Bunches”. A love that will carry on forever. Barry happily took on the role of the male role model to Val’s 2 boys. Always showing love and patience, listening inventively and never judging.

Barry is predeceased by his parents Fredrick and Lousie Waugh. His absence will be profoundly felt by his family, friends and colleagues who respected and admired him.

Barry chose not to have a funeral, but instead a celebration in his honour. Plans of such will be shared at a later date.

For those choosing to donate in Barry’s honor, a donation to Lisaard House/Innisfree House (Hospice) or to any Habitat for Humanity would be greatly appreciated.
