Dave passed away on Thursday February 29th 2024 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his wife, best friend and partner in life of over 40 years, Karen.

He is the proud father to Tony and his partner Paul; Chris and his wife Danielle and Grandfather to their son Aiden.

Dave is survived by his mother Joyce. Siblings; Janet Banerjee, Sheila Simon-Hodge, John Simon (Joanne), Lee Wainwright (Mike), and Sal Simon. Sister in-law Imelda (Andy) Schlupp, brother in-law Harry Gutoskie, sister in-law Linda (Dennis) Dudack, and many nieces and nephews.

Dave was predeceased by his father John, mother in-law Theresa Gutoskie, brother in-law Paul Hodge, sister in-law Marylin Voison and her husband Bob, sister-in law Donna Gutoskie, and the many pets he gave a loving home to over the years.

Dave's philosophy was that life is a journey and that "every day was a beautiful day". He was a devoted family man who loved nothing more than spending time around the house, channeling his creativity through his hands with many improvements and projects. He loved to travel and was at his happiest with his wife and boys camping, taking in the beauty Canada has to offer.

He was about to retire from Patene Building Supplies after 45 years where he made many friends and acquaintances. He passed on the work ethic he built over many years to his boys, teaching them to take pride in everything they do, no matter what it is.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday March 10th from 12pm to 3pm at the Moose Lodge located at 655 Wabanaki Drive, Kitchener Ontario. Guests are asked to enter through the back door.

Donations may be made to a charity of choice in Dave's memory, but nothing would honour him more than an act of compassion or kindness to a stranger to make the world a better place, one act at time.

Messages and condolences may be left for the family at www.tricitycremations.com or 519.772.1237. Please visit Dave’s obituary notice on Facebook.

Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.”  - Lao Tzu
