Donald George Matthews

Passed away peacefully at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital with has family by his side. Donald was called home and reunited with his wife on Tuesday 18 Feb 2025. Donald Matthews a resident of Preston all his life in his 88th year.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Barbara Mallette (2023) whom he married in 1965. His parents George Rowland (1961) and Thelma Jean Candler (1999) Siblings Douglas (1977) Joan (2014) and Carolyn (2021) brother-in-laws Joe (1977) Harvey (2022).

Lovingly remembered by son Rowland and daughter Lori Hickman (Gerry) and grandchildren Ashton Yeck (Jamie Harth) and Madelyne Yeck (Jake Quattrochi) and sister BettyAnn Clark (John 2022), also many nieces, nephews and friends.

A kind and gentle man at heart who loved his family dearly.

In his earlier years he mastered the art of doing stain glass and made some beautiful pieces.

Donald was a past member of the Preston Scout House Band, and was a very skilled snare drummer for many years.

Donald worked for Eastern Steel in Preston and retired from there in 1997.

Cremation has taken place and as per Donald's wishes, there will be no funeral sevice.

Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
