Frank Joseph Tielemans
1924 – 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Frank Joseph Tielemans, who left us peacefully at the age of 100. Frank was the beloved husband of Mieke (Maria) Tielemans (nee van Zantvoort, February 1928-May 2015), father of John, Hedy and Joanne, grandfather of Kaitlynn Ashley Tielemans, predeceased by his seven siblings. His life was marked by kindness, wisdom, and an unwavering dedication to his family and community.
Born in 1924, Frank grew up during a time of great change and challenge. He faced these with resilience and grace, qualities that would define his character throughout his life. Frank began his career in the telephone industry in The Netherlands, then decided to move to Canada where he continued in that field, rising to engineering manager for the Northern Telephone Company in New Liskeard, Ontario. Frank's career as an engineer was distinguished by his innovative spirit and commitment to excellence, earning him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
While he was adept at all racquet sports, tennis was his favourite, and was difficult to defeat even into his eighties. He and Mieke were avid ballroom dancers and active members of the community. Frank and Mieke sang together in the local choir, and in his retirement, Frank volunteered as treasurer for the Temiskaming Music Festival for many years. Friends and neighbors knew they could count on Frank to cheerfully pitch in if ever his help was needed.
He was a man of many talents and interests, delving into science, technology and computers. He also enjoyed playing guitar and piano. He was always eager to learn and share his knowledge with others. His family was a source of immense pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Frank's legacy is one of love, generosity, and a life well-lived. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but he leaves us with many happy memories to cherish. The family also wished to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Fergus Place Retirement Home for making his final years safe, happy, and comfortable.
Cremation has taken place. A family gathering was held privately.
