Terry Michael Eckensviller
1955-2025
Terry Michael Eckensviller, known to friends and family as Terry, passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital on February 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Terry grew up in Waterloo, ON and attended St. Jerome’s High School and later earned a Business Degree at Conestoga College.
Terry had a long and distinguished career at Union Gas for over 40 years. Terry began as a Customer Service Representative and worked his way up the corporate ladder to the head of the Quality Assurance Team where he was very well-liked and respected by all his colleagues and peers.
Terry is survived by his loving wife Joan and their two sons, Tim (Samantha) and Cody. Terry was a devoted husband and father to his wife and sons. Terry is also survived by his brother Doug, his loving sister, Judi Lankowski, his brothers-in-law Rob Langver (Karen), Rick Langver (Kim) and sister-in-law Sonja Langver. Predeceased by his parents Eugene and Rita, brother-in-law Rich Lankowski and mother and father-in-law Willy and Harry Langver. Terry will be missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Terry had many life-long friends. Closest to him were Russell Forbes, Rob Gross, Pete Lavigne and Rick Jankura who he spent many happy hours with and made so many lasting memories. Terry had a passion for aviation and often spent time at Guelph Air Park with Tim and The Tiger Boys. As Tim grew up, Terry was involved as a volunteer with the 822 Air Cadet Squadron where he was a respected part of that community. Terry also had an enthusiasm for cars which he shared with his younger son, Cody. Terry and Cody often went to car shows together as well as helped when high end cars needed to be “repositioned”. The two of them would tag team, driving from the original location to their ending destination and Terry would always let Codester drive the Corvette. Terry was truly a devoted and proud father to both of his boys.
Terry genuinely made an impact on everyone who knew him. His friends and family members would describe him as warm and loving, always willing to lend a helping hand, compassionate and had a wicked sense of humour. Terry found joy in everything he did.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassionate care received from the doctors and nurses at 6 South and ICU at Grand River Hospital. Their care and kindness are greatly appreciated by the family.
At Terry’s request, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Grand River Hospital Foundation - ICU would be very much appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Tri-City Cremation Services.
Life is short. To honour Terry – remember, always be kind, generous with your time and help those in need when able.
