Gertrude “Trudy” Rickard

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Trudy, at home surrounded by her family on May 2, 2023, at the age of 81. Born in Kitchener, daughter of the late Edward and Dorothy (Hughes) Tuck. Beloved wife of over 30 years to Rodney Pickles.

Loving mother to Michele Osborne (Rob Haney) and Karen Crawford (Mark), Cherished step-mother to Andrew Pickles and Tara Williams (Dan). Dear Sister of Nancy Sumrall of Rhode Island.  Predeceased by her son Carl Jantzi (2012) and brother-in-law Jim Sumrall.

Trudy was immensely proud of her 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was looking forward to the birth of twin great grandchildren in June. Trudy spent her career working in the Addiction field finishing as Director of The Brant Assessment and Referral Center. She retired at 55 and she and Rod enjoyed their time as snowbirds travelling to Texas in their motor home for 12 years. Her passion of making homemade cards and special blankets was born during retirement.

Cremation has taken place.  A private family service will be held at a later date with interment at Mount Hope Cemetery, Kitchener. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Lung Association as expressions of sympathy.
