Gina Battiston (nee Bomben)

1924-2024

Gina passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at the Village of Winston Park Kitchener, Ontario on Sunday October 6, 2024 at the age of 100 years.

Gina’s faith was very important to her and guided many of her decisions. She loved spending time in her garden and knitting.

Beloved wife of the late Italo Battiston who predeceased her in April 1997. Loving mother of Luigina Garden ( John) of Schoharie, New York and Dino Battiston ( Christine) of Wasaga Beach. Cherished grandmother of Charlotte Garden ( Owen) and Alexander Garden. Dear sister of Maria Rizzo, Nives Tondat and Rosina Boccalon and predeceased by one sister Ines Bomben. Survived by nieces, nephews and their children. She will be especially missed by her beloved sister Nives and nieces, Elena and Sandra, who lovingly cared for her upon her move to Kitchener.

Her children will be forever grateful to them for their constant efforts in making Gina happy and comfortable in her last years, ensuring she had everything she could possibly want. There is nothing she enjoyed more than being taken outdoors in the company of her sister to chat and enjoy the fresh air.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Winston Park, Kitchener and at Queenston Place, Niagara Falls for all their care.

In keeping with Gina’s wishes, cremation will take place with a private interment to follow at a later date in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Donations may be made to a charity of choice as expressions of sympathy.
