Freeman Garwin Purvis

1956-2024

Passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family at Grand River Hospital Monday September 30th, 2024 at the age of 68.

Freeman was born in Windsor, Nova Scotia and lived there till he moved to Ontario in 2000. He worked many different places throughout his life, including at Stock Transportation in Kitchener, and once he left there he finished at Grand River Transit as a transit driver for 11yrs until he retired.

He loved fishing, woodworking, furniture repair, and collecting dragons and die cast cars. He was a very loving, positive guy, always smiling. He loved to tease, he loved people. If Freeman could help he would and would always be there with a listening ear.

Beloved spouse and best friend of Karen Horst who were together of over 15 years.

Loving father of Chrystina Purvis, Freeman Purvis (Holly), Brett Purvis (Gracie), from Nova Scotia and Texas. Josh Horst, Braden Horst (Rebecca) and Nicole Lochner (Nick) from Kitchener.

Proud grandfather of Alyssa Purvis (Dane), Donovan and Rayne States, Odin and Truett Purvis and by one great grandchild Phoenix.

Cherished brother of Stan Purvis (Di), Grace Fogarty and Barb Pick.

Predeceased by his parents; Garwin and June (Nee Lunn), by two grandchildren; Ethan and Felisha Purvis. Brother-In-law Ron Pick

He will be fondly remembered by many friends, colleagues, neighbours and especially by the Horst family.

At his request, cremation will take place. A Celebration of his life/memorial visitation/ gathering will be held Monday October 7, 2024 from 12pm to 8pm.
