Jacqueline (Jackie) Vera Paddick (nee Maguire)

It is with great sadness that the family of Jacqueline (Jackie) Vera Paddick (nee Maguire) announce her passing on Thursday, May 9, 2024 in her 75th year. Jackie passed peacefully with her daughters by her side.

Cherished Mama of Lisa Wilhelm (Mike), and Kim Campbell (John Fraser), Gram of James Hilborn (Janelle), Tyler Hilborn (Liz), Rebecca Leader (Christopher), Andrew, Simon and Patrick Fraser, and Great-Gram of Isaiah, Ezekiel and Adelane Hilborn, and Collete Leader. Loved sister to Fred Maguire (Melody) and Robert Maguire. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, bonus kids and grandkids.

Predeceased by her parents George and Grace Maguire (nee Taylor), brother-in-law Robert Ellis, her two sisters, Doreen Ellis and Sheila Sellick, and a brother and sister in infancy.

Jackie was a loving, caring, feisty lady right up to the end. She deeply loved her family and once she made you one of her people, you were hers forever. Nothing made her light up more than seeing her grand and great-grand babies, and she made sure she was with us long enough to meet her newest great-granddaughter.

Jackie loved playing cards, crocheting blankets, reading and online games. She enjoyed the activities and outings at Fairview Mennonite and was a member of the Resident Council there. Fairview was home to her for almost two years and our family can’t thank the staff enough for the wonderful love and care they showed her during that time. It didn’t matter what their actual position was, they were just ‘her girls’ or ‘her boys’ and she loved them.

Our family has lost our guiding light, our anchor, our matriarch, and the world has lost a truly kind soul. We all know that she is safe in the arms of her parents again and that we will see her again one day.

Cremation has taken place and interment will be at Parklawn Cemetery.

Messages and condolences may be left at www.tricitycremations.com. Please visit Jackie’s obituary notice on Facebook.
