Joel David Pharoah

Feb 12, 1982 – March 7, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joel Pharoah on March 7, 2024 at the age of 42 after a 7 month struggle with cancer.  He was surrounded by his family and passed peacefully into his new eternal life, where his pain and suffering are over.

Joel is survived by his parents Verne and Marilyn Pharoah, siblings Verne Pharoah, Adam Pharoah, Megan Walker, Leah Peever and Shana Pharoah as well as a large extended family, all who were an important part of Joel’s life.

Joel was a much beloved son, brother and friend, who had a way of making everyone he met love him by his friendliness, charm, kindness and honesty.  Joel was known for the importance and priority he placed on family and friends, being hardworking at everything he did, his love of music, his faith and for being the life of the party and bringing joy wherever he went.

Joel will be dearly missed by all who knew him.  His coworkers will miss his work ethic, skill and leadership.  His friends will miss his fun-loving attitude, karaoke performances and Caribbean vacations.  His family will miss the time we spend with him and the love he always showed.  All of us will miss his guitar and piano songs, how he was always ready for debating and defending his beliefs, his helpfulness without any question of repayment and being the coolest guy we know.

We want to sincerely thank everyone that has shown their love and support for Joel over the last 7 months.  From generous financial gifts, to meals, the doctors and staff that provided compassionate treatment, the visits and hanging-out times with friends, everyone who prayed and the incredible nurses that came to the house that allowed Joel to stay at home.  Most of all to Verne, Marilyn and Shana who selflessly and lovingly cared for Joel 24/7, it meant the world to Joel to be cared for by all of these people.

We know without question where Joel is now and the unspeakable joy he is experiencing seeing his Saviour face to face in heaven without fear, pain, sadness or doubt.  We miss you more than words can say, but we are so incredibly proud of the way you fought your battle bravely while maintaining a positive outlook and showing more concern for how everyone else was doing rather than yourself.

A Memorial Service will be held at Forward Church (55 Franklin Blvd, Cambridge) on Tuesday March 12 at 1 pm with a reception to follow.
