John Thomas Springall

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our amazing Dad, Brother, Poppy, Great Poppy, Uncle and Friend; John Thomas Springall.

Born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia on August 26, 1933 to Robert and Matilda (Tilly) Springall.

Predeceased by the love of his life Hilda Springall (Deemert) (2013).

Survived by his children Donna Seaton (John), Sharon Seaton (Paul), Rick Springall, Sue Byrne, Lori Hall (Simon), Nancy Falco (Jim), 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Predeceased by his parents Robert and Matilda Springall, siblings Dorothy Pope, Margaret McLeod, Alfred Springall, Robert Springall, Danny Springall, Eddy Springall and son-in-law Terry Byrne.

Dad was an amazing man whose motto was “family comes first.” He was extremely hard working, always working 2 – 3 jobs to support his family. He could quite often be found in his garage tinkering with cars and small engines.

John could be called the mayor of Queen Street, having lived there for over 57 years. He spent many hours volunteering at the Hespeler Legion selling poppies, bartending and other jobs. John did a hockey pool for many years, donating all proceeds to Lisaard House.

In the last few years, John developed a passion for puzzles. He was exceptionally good at them and completed hundreds.

We would like to thank the Community Care with special mention to PSWs Lindy, Elaine and Tom, the Palliative Nursing Team, Dr. Holling, Benedetta and Lisaard House for their phenomenal care.

Donations can be made to Lisaard House, Hespeler Legion Br 272 or a charity of your choice.

A Celebration of Life, including a Legion Service will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from  1 – 4pm at the Hespeler Legion Br 272, 23 Schofield Street, Cambridge.

Messages and condolences may be left at www.tricitycremations.com. Please visit John’s obituary notice on Facebook.
