Maureen Rosemary Baillie
May 22, 1935 - January 1, 2025
Maureen died in comfort with the caring staff of Highview Residences on January 1st. She was the first born to Rose Beatrice nee Cole (deceased) and Reuben Sinclair Heaton (deceased) in Ilford, Essex, England. Then came Bryan (deceased), Sheila (Clements) and Trevor. Maureen met Alan James Baillie (born 29 July 1935) fell in love, got married and made the difficult decision to leave England and family, for Canada in July 1956. Alan worked in many places, but his favourite was Electrohome. He started there, in 1966 and worked there until he died suddenly on 11 August 1996, while on vacation.
While Alan worked, Maureen raised the kids: son Robin (born 1963), followed by a daughter Christine (Treichel, born 1969). Maureen is survived by grandsons Aaron Baillie, Ryan Baillie, Matthew Treichel and Brian Treichel and great grandchildren Evan Baillie and Hannah Baillie.
She was able to live in the same house on Shea Crescent in Kitchener for 52 years and was fortunate to have a cottage on Bradley Harbour, Lake Huron for 40 years, so dad could sail his boat. When Alan died, she was lost. But after a bit, she took up tai chi and volunteered at the Volunteer Action Centre for a number of years. This is where she met her good friend, Irene Dunford. They continued to be friends long after their volunteering days had ended.
Donations are not requested. Mum would say save your money, look for a sale and use a coupon.
At her request, there will be no memorial service and a private family gathering will be held. Messages and condolences may be left for the family at www.tricitycremations.com or 519.772.1237. Please visit Maureen’s obituary notice on Facebook.
