Richard Charles Pratt

1955-2024

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Charles Pratt, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left us on Monday November 11, 2024. Born and raised in Durham, Richard’s exceptional talent in custom woodworking, log and timber homes took him far and wide, leaving his mark in communities across the region.

Richard was a man of many hats, each one worn with pride, dedication, and attention to detail. Whether as a craftsman, a loving family member, or a friend, he approached everything in life with a tireless work ethic and a kind heart. His greatest joy was his family, and he took immense pride in passing his many skills on to his two wonderful children.

He will be profoundly missed by his beloved wife and best friend, Kristine (Kennedy), with whom he shared 43 years of marriage. Richard was a dedicated, loving, and proud father to Latrichia Pratt (husband Dao Tran) and Richard (Ash) Pratt (partner Brittany Anderson). He was also an adoring Poppa to Emma Rose and Ella Grace, who brought him endless joy.

Richard was the cherished brother of Janice Pratt (Howard Mitchell), Roy Pratt (Peggy), and the late Karen Pratt (Cal Ritchie). He leaves behind a large extended family, including many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews from the extended Kennedy family.

In addition to his immediate family, Richard will be missed by his in-laws: Tomas (Margaret) Kennedy, Judith Doer, John Kennedy, Phyllis (Wayne) Barns, Barb Hicks, Roger Kennedy, Michael (Sue) Reeve, and Kim Story. He was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Joe (Greta) Kennedy and Ken (Brenda) Kennedy, and two sisters-in-law, Carol (Don) Falkingham and Marlene Kennedy. Richard was also predeceased by his parents, Newman and Inez Pratt, who laid the foundation for the kind, hardworking man he became.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 7th (1-4pm) at The Special Events Centre @ Ground Effects Landscaping, located at 341411 Concession Rd 2 NDR, Hanover, ON N4N 3B9, where family and friends will gather to honor Richard’s memory and the lasting impact he had on all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Multiple Myeloma, the Owen Sound Animal Shelter, or you may choose to plant a tree as an expression of sympathy. Richard's legacy of craftsmanship, love, and dedication to family will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Richard Pratt's memory will forever remain in the lives of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rest in peace, Richard. You will be deeply missed.
