Michael Cecchetto

1953-2024

Michael Cecchetto passed away in Kitchener on Saturday November 9, 2024 at his home surrounded by family at 71 years old.

Michael was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario. He brought a sense of humor, compassion and charisma to everything he did which always made those around him feel loved and cared for. He also had a remarkably bright and humble presence about him that allowed him to make instant connections with people everywhere he went. He had a strong passion for music and will be remembered for his love of the Beatles and classic rock. He spent lots of time at the family camp on Wanapitei, a lake that he loved and cherished. Some of the fondest memories the family nurtures are of him driving the boat, the wind in his hair, and music blasting out onto the water.

Michael will be lovingly remembered by his “dolls” Gina Peters (married to Duncan Peters) and Sara Cecchetto (married to Mike Bull). He was a father who loved both of his children unconditionally and with a quiet, beautiful abundance.

Cherished grandfather of Sofie and Jack Peters. Both children had a special connection with their Dodo and looked forward to being with him every chance they had.

Dear brother of Robert Cecchetto, Mary Orasi, Suzanne Cundari, Lousie Burns, Florinda Cecchetto and Christine Cecchetto.  Predeceased by his parents Lucile Gagnon and Ernesto Cecchetto of Sudbury, Ontario. Former wife and loving partner Linda Del Medico.

Much-adored uncle and Zio of many nieces and nephews too numerous to list who will remember his kindness and humor. Over the last several months of his life, one of his favorite sayings became “Angels around us”. He often used this expression in saying goodbyes. In this difficult time the family would like to extend the wish of “Angels around you” to everyone who loved and cared about Michael and to anyone who was touched by his remarkable and humble spirit.
