Robert del Fabbro
Robert del Fabbro willed his being to leave its body on September, 9th, 2023, in Cambridge, On. He was just shy of his 63rd birthday. His sons, Wyatt (29) and Matt (26) were at home with him, as well as all those who loved him most dearly. Despite his illness, Robert defied expectations and lived a longer life than anticipated, ultimately winning his battle against porocarcinoma, an extremely rare cancer that represents less than 0.01% of all malignancies.
He was born in Montreal, Quebec and lived in the suburb of LaSalle. After graduation, he worked at a variety of jobs ex., manufacturing fur coats, upholstering office furniture, wedding photographer assistant and managing a retail paint store. After marrying Stacey in December 1990, they moved to Ottawa. Five years later, the family moved to Mississauga, then Vancouver, and finally, in 2001, to Cambridge, On, The last three moves were to facilitate his work with Fibertech Canada E.R. Inc,. with whom he has been employed for the last 30 years. During his time there, he became renowned for his expertise and was referred to as an "Endoscope Genius."
Robert's caring nature extended beyond his work, as he dedicated much of his time to volunteering for those with exceptional needs. Recently, he was found playing on the ice and in fundraising with the Cambridge Ice Hounds of Special Hockey International, the Special Olympics Cambridge Floor Hockey team and he enjoyed spending time with his sons and the animals of the National Service Dogs (Cambridge).
Robert had a variety of interests and hobbies. During the summer, he would spend weekends on his boat in Georgian Bay, while winters were dedicated to playing hockey with “Dave, Max, Mike and the boys” on their team, the Stones. He loved travel and saw a good part of North America, from the East and West Coasts of Canada and the US, and the cities of New York, Chicago, Washington and Las Vegas to name a few. He travelled to England with his sons on a hockey tournament, California with Wyatt and Newfoundland with Matthew. Last December, with great pride, he showed his family and close friends his German heritage and family homeland during a whirlwind and often chaotic trip filled with much love and even more laughter.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no service or memorial. In lieu of flowers, Robert would have you take the time to enjoy life, love your friends and family and do for others.
