Romas Andrius Zubrickas
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Romas Andrius Zubrickas. He passed away peacefully with his family at his side. Romas departed this world on his terms at age 94 on December 7, 2023. His sense of humor and patience were his greatest gifts to his family. Born in 1929 in Sakiai, Lithuania his family chose Canada as their safe haven in which to live and settled in Hamilton, Ontario. As a young man attending a dance in St. Catharines, he found the love of his life in Aldona Dauginas. The young couple married and eventually settled in Preston, Ontario where they attended St Clements church since the summer of 1958. They raised six children Gary (Lorna), Arnie (Lee-Ann), Moe (Laurie), Sim (Jill), Rimas (deceased in infancy) and Rita (John). Eleven Grandchildren hold fond memories of their ‘Tevukas’. He was instrumental in shaping their young lives and was a source of wisdom as they grew up and started their own lives as young adults. Romas had the opportunity to spend time enjoying sixteen Great Grandchildren and had dreams of meeting the seventeenth in just a few short months. Romas held a special spot in his heart for Ada Balon (and Simas and Grazhina Balon) as he cherished her as an extended Granddaughter and all three of them as part of his immediate family.
Romas was employed with Angel Stone (Arriscraft) for over 37 years, his last position was Special Projects Manager. He was familiar to many throughout the plant as a kind, patient, dedicated and an approachable man.
Predeceased by his parents Augustinas and Agota Zubrickas and brothers Algimantas and Sigitas Zubrickas and his sister Danute Kamaitis.
The family would like to thank the health care providers and staff of both the Emergency department and 4C Medical Unit at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. The care provided to both Romas and family was compassionate, kind and comforting.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at St Clements Church 745 Duke St. Cambridge, Ontario at 11:30 am, followed by a luncheon in the basement of the Church
