Ronald George Ogle
October 19, 1945-February 7, 2023
Leaving a huge hole in our hearts, Ron passed away peacefully at home while listening to his favourite music with his loved ones present. He was in his 78th year and battled with health problems for 1 1/2 years with great determination and grace.
Ron was born in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, England to his parents George and Bertha and came to Canada as a small child. He grew up in Parkdale, Toronto and still has friends from that time. Ron married Chantal in 1968 and had three children that grew up in Toronto, Vancouver, Kitchener and England. Ron and Chantal enjoyed life in England and France in their later years and then moved to St Thomas, Ontario for a few years before heading back to England where Chantal passed away in 2007.
On his own, Ron moved to Cambridge where he began a new chapter of his life, living just down the street from his daughter and grandchildren. Ron started working for Crawford Adjusters not long after that at an age that most people would be retiring. He loved the routine it offered and it allowed him to continue to use his incredibly sharp mind.
Ron and Marilyn met during this time and were together for the rest of Ron’s years. They lived in Preston together and then moved to Rockway in Kitchener. Ron was in and out of the hospital so much in his last year and it was an incredibly frustrating and painful time for him. Ron managed to stay home as much as possible with Marilyn’s full time help, as well as some very amazing nurses.
He leaves behind his partner Marilyn Young, children Yvette, Phillip, and Johnathan(Rachel), grandchildren Chantal(Sam), Lily(Ajay), Rupert, Oscar, Isabel, Bill, Matilda and Edward, and great grandchildren Lucy, Oliver and Elliot.
People who knew Ron will remember him to be a deeply loyal man with strong conviction. Despite being very private, later in life he embraced social media with great fervour. He was embarrassingly proud of his family, posting photos every time he got the chance. His love for Formula 1 Racing was shared with Marilyn and they watched every race together. Music was a huge part of Ron’s life. As a teen he travelled far and wide to buy the latest records for his collection. He attended many great concerts and loved retelling those stories to whoever would listen. The Leafs were his constant source of disappointment as he watched like clockwork every year.
Ron will be greatly missed by all who knew him. As per his wishes, a service will not be held. Cremation has taken place and he will be laid to rest in Deal, England with his late wife Chantal. The entire family has really appreciated the outpouring of goodwill and the memories people have been sharing about Ron.
