Thomas Edward Gill

April 28, 1935 - September 8, 2024

Passed away peacefully, at Riverbend Place Retirement Home on Sunday September 8, 2024 in his 90th year, going home to be with his Lord and Saviour. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place.

Thomas was the beloved husband of Jessie Gill (nee Rose) for 58 yrs. He was the loving father of Blair (Penny) and Jeremy (Jackie). He will be sadly missed by his 5 grandchildren Rachel (Abdul), Zechariah, Josiah, Austin, and Ethan. Thomas was also blessed with 2 great grandchildren, Safiya and Nyla. 

Thomas was born to Cyril and Myrtle Gill (nee Reynolds) in Brantford, Ontario on April 28, 1935. He has 8 siblings, survived by Ruth (Cliff), Ray, Maury (Bev), Mark, Sharon (Jim), and Virginia. Thomas is predeceased by his brothers Percy and Ross. Thomas was loved by the many brother and sister-in-laws and nieces and nephews from both the Rose and Gill families.

Thomas grew up in Paris, Ontario where he later joined the military, becoming a paratrooper within Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. After completing his service, he returned home and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Saviour at Braeside Camp. He later received his Licensed Preacher credentials and for many years, was very active within Calvary Pentecostal Assembly, serving in a variety of capacities including Sunday school teacher, youth leader, young adults leader, and worship leader, to name a few. Thomas was employed at Simplicity for almost 20 years as an assembly line worker, proving his dedication and reliability. Thomas’s next employment spanned 18 years with the Waterloo Region District School Board, within the security department, where he helped to implement a new board-wide security system. While at the WRDSB, he formed many friendships, where he was able to share his indelible sense of humour.

A memorial service followed by a luncheon will be held at Calvary Pentecostal Assembly (127 Hespeler Road, Cambridge) on Monday, September 16th at 11 AM.

Our greatest admiration and gratitude is expressed to the caring and compassionate staff at Riverbend Place, for taking care of Thomas over the past several years.
