Thomas Joseph Hause

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Thomas Joseph Hause, who passed away on May 1, 2023, at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener at the age of 83 years.

Tom was a lifelong resident of Kitchener Waterloo. He went to St. Jerome’s High School and worked at Ball Construction for 35 years.  Tom was a man of many passions. He loved to fish and  play euchre with his buddies Tom, Ron, and Wayne. He was  known for his practical jokes, You never knew when it was going to be your turn to be on the receiving end of one of his hilarious pranks. Tom was also a coach for lacrosse and hockey teams and spent his retirement years golfing and curling. He even had the impressive accomplishment of hitting two holes in one during his illustrious golf career.

Tom was the beloved husband of Berneice (nee Chapman) for over 61 years. He was a loving father to Shelley Schanzenbacher (Charlotte) and Brad Hause (Kim) and a cherished Poppa of Kaitie (Jaddy), Emma, Josh, Lucas, and his late grandson Matt. Tom was a proud Great Poppa of Mateo, who he affectionately nicknamed ’66’.

Tom was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Florence Hause, and by his siblings, Paula (Ludwig) and Robert Hause. He will be deeply missed by his many relatives, friends, colleagues, neighbours and friends. Tom’s memory will always be kept alive by the laughter and joy he brought into the lives he touched.

At Tom’s request a cremation has taken place and a private family celebration will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkwood Mennonite Home or Rare Charitable Research Reserve as expressions of sympathy and would be appreciated by the family.
