Beverly Anne Saunders

1951 – 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Beverly Anne Saunders on Wednesday August 21, 2024 at Grand River Hospital with sisters by her side. She is survived by her only son Brandon. She once again trailblazes the way for her younger sisters Barbara (Andy), Helen (Yves), Colleen and Kelly who are heartbroken with their loss.  Beverly will be missed by her nieces and nephews; Catherine, Dawna, Carey, Christena, Mark, Shannon, Daryl and Adam and great nieces and nephews; Sam, Nicholas, Amy, Hannah, Nolan, Zeelan, and Delilah.

She lived a life filled with love and devotion to her family and friends. Beverly, was an avid reader and book collector. You could frequently find her outside, weather permitting, at Sunnyside Supportive Housing, where she lived following a surgery in 2013 that left her paralyzed, with hat, book, smokes, and coffee in hand. She loved to travel to anywhere warm and helped reel in a 9 foot sailfish while deep sea fishing on a sisters’ vacation. She was frequently nicknamed Ace because when playing euchre she would inevitably hold just the right ace to win the hand or game. Bev had an adventurous spirit and was game for just about anything. If there was fun to be found, she’d say, “Car’s going? I’m in it! “.  She even shaved off her hair once for charity. She could connect with anyone and would strike up conversations anywhere and everywhere she went. She had a natural gift for gab.

Born in Ottawa in 1951 and raised in Val Caron, Beverly left home at the tender age of 19 and began her career in Sudbury. She relocated to Kitchener, married in 1979 and had one son, Brandon. Her working years in Kitchener began at Dubrick Realty, followed by Custom Leather and others and she retired from the Region of Waterloo after 24 years of service with roles in public health and social services. Beverly will be deeply missed especially by her family, her lifelong best friend Chérie, and her first husband Robert.

She is predeceased by her parents Eileen (1997) and Ross (2022) and fiancé Bill (2015) and her beloved dog Buttons.

Cremation has taken place in accordance with her wishes and her cremation urn will be interred at Springhill Cemetery in Metcalfe.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Sunnyside Supportive Housing, especially Deana and Catherine, Steve, RPN with the renal clinic, and the palliative care team at Grand River Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the K-W Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.

Messages and condolences may be left for the family at www.tricitycremations.com or 519.772.1237. Please visit Beverly’s obituary notice on Facebook.
