David Michael Nicholson
1962 - 2024
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic, sudden and unexpected passing of David Michael Nicholson on Thursday morning, December 12, 2024. David, known fondly as Dave, was a beloved father and stepfather, loved, adored and forever cherished husband and treasured grandpa, Opi, brother, uncle, friend, and mentor. His vibrant and generous spirit left an indelible impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Dave's magnetic personality left a lasting influence on everyone who met him. He was inherently kind and generous, always ready to lend a helping hand or give good advice. A truly cheerful soul, he exuded an optimistic 'happy-go-lucky' spirit. He lived with boundless energy and had an unwavering zest for life. Whether casting a fishing line on a serene lake or tinkering with engines and electronics, Dave’s passions reflected his curiosity, passionate and creative nature. A true Renaissance man, he was a skilled mechanic, an innovative problem-solver, and a self-proclaimed “gourmet chef.” He was a true MacGyver of all things.
While his passing leaves an irreplaceable void, Dave’s spirit will endure through the countless memories he helped create and the many lives he enriched. He will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and his ability to make everyone feel valued and loved.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Claudia, and his sons Shane, Blair (Keighley), and Isaac (Stephanie) Nicholson who were his greatest source of pride. He was the loving grandfather of Charlotte, Rosie, Theo, and Rhea. He also leaves behind his cherished stepchildren Tessie (Steve) and Nathan (Annelise). Dave was a beloved brother to Bryan (Nancie), Scott (Debbie), Janet (John), and Paula, his nieces, nephews, their spouses and sweet children and was a true friend to many.
Dave’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and generosity. He will be deeply missed but forever celebrated by those fortunate enough to have known him.
As per Dave's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. He will be cremated in the loving presence of his wife and children. If you wish to express condolences to the family and pay your respects to Dave, there will be an informal gathering for a celebration of life held on Thursday December 19th at Pioneer Park Christian Fellowship, 68 Biehn Dr, Kitchener, ON N2P 1N6, and you are welcome to join us anytime between 4 and 6pm.
