Donald Wayne Brethour
1958-2025
Donald passed away in his home in Kitchener on Thursday January 23, 2025 at the age of 66 years; after a painful 3 year battle with lung cancer and COPD.
Born in Toronto and raised in Wasaga, Donald loved to be by the water. From a young age his love for fishing started and never stopped. He spent most of his life fishing, camping, gardening, watching horror movies, and entertaining friends. He was a very funny man who loved to sing, dance, and have a great time with the people around him. He adored his family and friends.
He spent 35 years working the same strenuous job at Northfield Metals in Waterloo. This job is also where he made many, life-long friendships; some that became like family. These are the people that made those tough days easier; he appreciated and loved you all.
Donald was more than a husband, father, or brother; he was the life of the party, the fisherman, the person you bared your soul to in the middle of the night, the person you could count on for a laugh. He did the things he wanted to in life whole heartedly and some with consequence. His life was cut short but filled to the max by everything and everyone he loved.
He will be missed by his beloved wife, Linda Brethour, and his daughters Tina-Marie Deslauriers, Danielle Podger, and Brookelyn Brethour. He will be cherished by his grandchildren Jason, Tanner, Dylan, and Mackayla; as well as his great-grandchildren Silas and Delilah.
He is now reunited with his pre-deceased parents Lorraine and Ronald Brethour, and his big brother David Brethour.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of life will be held at a later date, where all are welcome to give their support and condolences. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society as expressions of sympathy. You may also drink a beer and/or cast a line in his name.
