Elfriede Sobottka (nee Lang)

Elfriede Sobottka (nee Lang) passed away unexpectedly but peacefully, at St. Mary’s General Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario, on Wednesday April 5, 2023 at the age of 87.
 
Elfriede was born on July 12, 1935 to Franz and Emelie Lang in Duisburg, Germany. In 1955 she married Johann Sobottka and they welcomed a son Hans Joachim, and a daughter Dagmar to their family. In 1964 Elfriede and Johann immigrated to Toronto, Canada with their young family. They embraced their new home and never looked back. Elfriede had an entrepreneurial spirit and was blessed with health and prosperity. Throughout her life, she was a faithful life-long member of the New Apostolic Church and was active as an organist and choir leader; attending church service in-person or virtually was always the center of her life. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
 
Beloved wife of the late Johann Sobottka (died 2005). Loving mother of Hans Joachim (Holly) Sobottka and Dagmar (John) Veenhoven. Cherished Omi of Jonathan, Sean, Chantel, Leah, Lucas, and Lauren and great grandmother of Rhys, Samson and Odin. Dear Sister of her only sibling Hartwin Lang.
 
Cremation has taken place. No visitation.
 
Memorial Service: New Apostolic Church, 10 Birkinshaw Rd., Cambridge, ON N1P 0A7 on Saturday, April 29, 2023 @ 11AM.
 
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Hospital or The New Apostolic Church Foreign Extension Inc.
