Helen Louise Thorne
Passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024 at St. Mary’s General Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario at the age of 61 years.
Loving wife of Deb Cruickshank with whom she spent 18 wonderful years (not nearly enough).
The loss of his first-born daughter will be felt greatly by her father, Walter Thorne.
She is survived by her two greatest accomplishments, Brandon (Cheryl) Keel and Erica (Jeremy) Keel. Proud grandmother “Nanny” of Zelda May Catharine Keel. Beloved big sister of Shauna (Brian) Thorne-Zarin. Lifelong friend of Howard Keel with whom she shared their amazing children. Loving mom to her precious pups Bailey and Kahlua.
Predeceased by her mom, Glady(s) Thorne.
Helen or “Cookie” as she was affectionately known as will be sadly missed by friends and family throughout Ontario and Cape Breton.
Helen spent 21 years in St Catharines where she built Lifelong friendships through YBC, St Catharines Minor Baseball, and the 7-11 before beginning a new chapter in Kitchener where she truly enjoyed her years spent at True North Imaging building lasting friendships with her coworkers.
She and Deb were steadily working on their “Bucket list” travelling through the US and Canada, including several stops in Graceland to visit her beloved Elvis Presley. They had hoped to continue this in retirement

Cremation has taken place. As per Helen’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be Held on Saturday September 7th, 2024 from 1-4pm at Waterloo Brewing Taphouse 400 Bingemans Centre Dr, Kitchener, ON N2B 3X9. Please come as you are as Helen would want everyone to be comfortable and informal
In lieu of flowers, donations made to Alzheimer's Society, or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
