James Richard “Dick” Murphie
On May 13, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital at the age of 91.
Born in Bermuda July 3, 1932 to the late Douglas & Dolly Gleeson Murphie, he graduated from what is now Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He worked as an industrial engineer in Chicago and for Sunbeam, George Endress & Moulinex companies in Canada.
He is survived by his wife, Jo and four children: Cyd Farrelly, Guelph; Lydia Murphie, Florida; Marcia Toles (Cameron), Thorold; & Doug Murphie (Carol) East Garafraxa; 5 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Barbara “Boots”, and two daughters, Vickie Murphie & Claudia Debien.
He was a sailor from an early age and a Freemason for over 65 years.
A Celebration of Dick’s Life will be held at the Portuguese Club, 870 Townline Rd. Cambridge on Sunday August 18th, 2024 at 2 pm. Masonic Service at 2 pm with lunch and remembrances to follow. Please wear colourful clothes and bring stories to share.
