Rene Gascon
January 16, 1933 - January 26, 2024
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Rene Gascon, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Patricia (Myers) and 5 children, Bryan (Lynn), Sharon Beard (Murray), Jerry (Pam), Barry (Jo-Ann), and Karen Gill (Gary). He was Papa/Grampa to Allison, Katelyn, Nicholas, Philip, Luke, Geoffrey, Nicole, Angela, Krista and Quinn and Great Grampa to Ty, Cohen, Ella, Jacob, Brooklyn, James, Laine, Noah, Avery and Eleanor.
Rene started his working career at Falconbridge Nickel Mines then moved on to Canadian Tire where he owned stores in Sturgeon Falls and Kitchener before retiring after 25 years as a dealer. He was the ultimate Mr. Fix-It and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t build, fix or restore.
Woodworking and making crafts became a large part of his retirement activities. He also loved music and played both the guitar and piano (organ).
Rene loved his family, lived a long life to the fullest and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Clements Catholic Church, 745 Duke St., Cambridge, ON N3H 3T7, Friday, February 2, 2024 at 11am, followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, in his memory, donations can be made to Innisfree House, 2375 Homer Watson Blvd, Kitchener, ON N2P 0E9.
