Ronald Gordon Wing
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Ron’s peaceful passing on April 28, 2024 at Stirling Heights Long Term Care at the age of 73 years.
Beloved husband of Brenda Marie Wing (nee Murray) for 45 years. Cherished father of Janine Casar (Bradley Whitford). Proud grandfather of Caitlin and Keera Whitford. Dear brother of Jim, Ricky, Terry, Steven, Debbie, Darlene and Gloria. Much loved brother-in-law to Robert Tomlin, Gayle McKeller, Don and Sherry Donkers and Paul and Debbie Murray. Sadly missed by many cherished nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his mother Gloria Dupe and his grandparents Reg and Dorothy Wing.
Ron was a Prestonian boy for most of his life. He was an avid bowler (both 5 and 10 pin). His love of golf started at the age of 22. He attended annual Nascar races at the Indy 500 with his long-time friends Dennis Chamberlain and Dave Marston. Ron loved a good game of Texas Hold 'em or Euchre. He was a sports enthusiast who loved golf, the Raptors, the Blue Jays and the Buffalo Bills.
He started working as a young boy, setting up the pins at Presto Lanes. He finished his high school education at PHS then began work at Westinghouse, first as a tow motor operator then on to production supervisor. The bulk of his working career was at Golden Books Publishing, finishing up at Bibby-Ste-Croix where he retired on his 65th birthday.
Throughout his leisure pursuits and working career, Ron “Winger” made lifetime friends.
I have gratitude and respect for the staff at Stirling Heights, for the warmth, caring support and friendship. You were there for us through the highs and the lows. Sincere thanks to the residents and their family members who became my friends as we helped support each other in these challenging times.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 1 from 4 – 7pm (this time was known as Ron and Brenda’s “Miller Time”) at Kressview Springs Condominium, 237 King Street West, Cambridge in the main level gathering room.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
