William Douglas Ball
1952 - 2024
Loving father and retired school teacher, William (Bill) Ball, passed away peacefully at Saint Luke’s Place, Cambridge on Monday April 29, 2024 at the age of 71 years old. Having been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease at an early age, it can be said that Bill faced his struggles courageously.
Born in 1952 to William and Betty Ball in the city of Tillsonburg, Bill was the first of 8 children. He was the loving father of Ryan and Randal. He will be sadly missed by his mother Betty, his siblings Gerald (Sandra), Lyle (Christine), Darrell (Mabell), Karen( Stephen), Derrick(Christi), Donald(Barbara), Kathryn(Jeff), many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
Of his many passions, he loved to travel, and through his adventures built many amazing friendships across the globe. This need for adventure brought him to New Zealand at the young age of 18, where he met his first wife, with whom he had two sons whom he loved dearly. He was a voracious reader and adored classic Canadian literature. His love of reading was inherent at a very young age, and his passion for learning was never-ending. From that passion, he discovered a purpose. And that purpose was to share that knowledge, and so he dedicated his career to teaching. A purpose that meant the world to him. He loved music and shared that love with both of his sons. Those concert experiences left an indelible mark on both of his sons' lives, moments they will always cherish. Ryan and Randal will never forget their first Bryan Adams and Green Day concerts.
Cremation has taken place, and the Celebration of Life will be held from 2pm to 6pm at the Fiddle and Firkin, at 707 King Street East, Cambridge, Ontario. The event link can be found below:
